How to hold it longer

  • Open shoulders

Shoulders to the ears until they line up with the spine.

  • Fingers balance

Weight slightly into the fingers; they make the corrections.

  • Re-load gradually

Short sessions and warm wrists before long holds.

In Ben’s words

Ben Lowrey started learning handstands in 2013, came to hand balancing through yoga and began teaching at the end of 2015.

“Something that's really noticeable in the classes is people that did gymnastics when they were little, they find these kind of things much easier”
Ben Lowrey, in the full library
“The whole body is tense under tension like a plank and the fingers do the balancing.”

“The more your shoulders open into a straight line with your spine and with your body, then the easier your handstand is going to feel”

Adult gymnastics handstand questions

What happens after 30 November?

The founding price of £47 is for purchases made by the end of 30 November 2026, UK time. From 1 December 2026 the library costs £67. Buying at £47 gets you exactly the same access, and the same 14-day refund, as buying at £67.

How do I get back into gymnastics handstands as an adult?

Gradually. Wrists and shoulders need re-loading before long holds: wall work and short sessions first.

How can I hold a handstand longer?

Ben's cues: shoulders to the ears, body under tension, fingers doing the balancing. The straight-handstand and shoulder-angles tutorials go deeper.

Is 30 too old to start?

People start at every age. Ben says adults who did gymnastics as children often find it easier; everyone else needs more patience, not a cut-off.

Can I train a press without gym equipment?

Yes. The press tutorial uses the floor and a wall. Ben calls it a flexibility move as much as strength.

Why pay £47 when there are free videos?

The tutorials and drills are free. The library adds the full courses and a 12-week order.

Who it isn’t for

  • It is not a quick fix. There are no promised timelines: a handstand takes regular practice over time.
  • It is not live coaching. The library is recorded teaching, so nobody watches or corrects your form.
  • It is not for anyone a doctor or physiotherapist has told to avoid being upside down.
  • Ben says himself that the press to handstand is not right for every body.
