How Ben teaches a first handstand

  • The wall is your friend

Hands close to the wall, toe taps only. Your body learns where the wall is.

  • The way down comes first

Roll out and step out before you ever chase a balance.

  • Shoulders, not crunches

Ben's view: your shoulders hold the handstand. Train them directly.

Adult beginner handstand questions

What happens after 30 November?

The founding price of £47 is for purchases made by the end of 30 November 2026, UK time. From 1 December 2026 the library costs £67. Buying at £47 gets you exactly the same access, and the same 14-day refund, as buying at £67.

Can I really learn a handstand as an adult with no gymnastics background?

Ben says he did no sport until he was 29. The library starts at the wall and builds from there: toe taps, coming down safely, shoulder work, then entries away from the wall. Nobody can promise how long it takes; people differ.

How do I stop being scared of falling out of a handstand?

Learn the way down first. The beginner drills teach rolling and stepping out before you kick up, and the wall tutorial keeps your hands close to the wall so you always know where it is.

What strength do I need to start?

In Ben's view, less than you think: if you can walk through the door, you have enough core. Shoulders matter more, and the first stage builds them gently with plank taps and walk-outs.

Can I practise at home in a small space?

Yes. Most early drills need a clear bit of wall and a mat. A few use a box, blocks or a ball, and each drill shows its kit.

Why pay £47 when there are free handstand videos?

Ten tutorials and 43 drills are free. The paid library adds the four full courses and the 12-week order that stops you jumping between random videos.

Who it isn’t for

  • It is not a quick fix. There are no promised timelines: a handstand takes regular practice over time.
  • It is not live coaching. The library is recorded teaching, so nobody watches or corrects your form.
  • It is not for anyone a doctor or physiotherapist has told to avoid being upside down.
  • Ben says himself that the press to handstand is not right for every body.
